ABSTRACT
A chemical factory has been given the instruction from the government environmental agency that the process wastewater from the production of inorganic base chemicals must be free of individual contaminants before discharge into the sea. Since the filtration and sedimentation of these solid materials established up until now could not be performed guaranteed, suitable treatments had to be connected downstream. Amafilter has developed and built a specially designed membrane process in two production lines for four waste water streams through which the product loss is reduced to a minimum and the permeate can be reused. The plants have now been running successfully since April 1999.
