Reuse solution for the Valley of Mexico’s water challenges
Urban population growth and insufficient water and wastewater capacity in the Valley of Mexico have led to aquifer overexploitation, causing subsidence and health risks from untreated sewage. Ernesto Espino de la O describes an ongoing project to increase treatment capacity and reuse wastewater for irrigation and aquifer recharge to meet the water demands of the Valley’s population.
