The pulp and paper industry is facing ongoing pressures to both reduce its water use and to achieve higher standards of pollution control. Jim Force looks at current water use and technologies in the pulp and paper industry and at the potential options for improvement.

Including... Africa study investigates link between poor sanitation and economic loss. A series of World Bank Water and Sanitation Program (WSP) reports warns that 18 African countries lose around $5.5 billion each year because of poor sanitation, generating annual economic losses of between 1% and 2.5% of gross domestic product (GDP).
