First outing for the BABE process

Problems with meeting nitrogen standards at the 's-Hertogenbosch wastewater treatment plant
in The Netherlands led to an examination of a number of technologies to improve performance.
Eric Van Der Zandt, Victor Claessen, Bastiaan Hommel and Debby Berends report on what is to be the first use
of the new BABE process. The technology, which augments nitrifying bacteria, is due to be
operational in September.
