ABSTRACT
This study presents the results of a bench-scale experiment on the formation of aldehydes as by-products of the ozonation process. The objective of this research was to investigate the influence of ozonation conditions during the process on aldehyde production. The results support a hypothesis that aldehydes are formed via a direct pathway. Higher pH and/or the addition of hydrogen peroxide during ozonation decreases the production of aldehydes.
