Journal of Hydroinformatics
Official Journal of the IAHR-IWA-IAHS Joint Committee on Hydroinformatics
Dear colleagues,
Many of you will know that the Journal has been in existence since 1999, but last year (2011) was the best so far. Not only did we publish a record number of papers (62 papers published in 4 issues), which is a considerable increase from 24 per year (on average), but the quality of papers appearing in the Journal has also improved immensely. Together with the steady increases in submissions and impact factor to a level of 1.20 for 2010, this shows how our popularity and quality have grown over the years.
We know that many of you now expect a much faster service from the Journal. However, with many popular journals one can expect to wait anything from six months to a year, or even more, for a first-round decision. That is why the entire Editorial Board has worked hard to meet our commitment to faster turnaround time and I’m pleased to announce that the elapsed time between the date a manuscript is received to the first decision has gone down to less than two months (on average) in 2011!
Furthermore, the online version of accepted papers now appears much earlier than in print, so much so that the average time from acceptance to the paper appearing online is now 6 months. This is even shorter when you consider that uncorrected proofs appear online as soon as they are prepared, making the time to publication even quicker. It is also important to note that our Publisher (IWA Publishing) has introduced a policy whereby papers older than 2 years are freely available online at: http://www.iwaponline.com/jh/toc.htm
We hope you will enjoy and use the Journal, because it really is for you the reader. It is your publication! That is why we invite you to keep supporting it either by submitting your latest work for possible publication, or by reviewing papers when invited by one of our Editors.
If you have any comments or suggestions for how we can improve the Journal please send your comments or questions to me.
Best wishes,
Dragan Savic
