Where can I find Instructions for Authors?
Instructions for authors for each of the journals can be found
here or from the link on the respective journal home page.

Why do we ask you to transfer copyright?
There are a number of reasons for this:
i. our ownership of copyright will ensure maximum international protection against infringement, libel or plagiarism;
ii. it will enable us to deal efficiently with requests from third parties to reproduce or reprint the article, or part of it, and to do so in accordance with a general policy that is sensible both to any relevant changes in international copyright legislation and to the general desirability of encouraging the dissemination of knowledge
In assigning your copyright you will not be forfeiting your proprietary rights, including your patent and trademark rights to any process or procedure described in the paper. You may also do the following after obtaining our permission (which would not be withheld unreasonably) and provided that the Journal is acknowledged as the original source:
i. revise, adapt, prepare derivative works, present orally or otherwise make use of the contents of your article;
ii. make photocopies of all or part of the work provided that such copies are only used for teaching purposes within your institution and that no charge is made for such copies;
iii. mount an electronic version of your article on a secure network (not publicly accessible) within your institution

How do I obtain permission to use work that has previously been published?
Please direct all requests to reprint part or all of any work previously published in an IWA Publishing book or journal to:

How can I buy a single article online?
If you would like to access a paper from an IWA Publishing journal to which you do not have a subscription you can view and download the PDF of the paper using our pay per view option. The price of single articles in IWA Publishing journals is normally £20, payable via a simple secure credit card transaction (IWA members receive a 25% discount on this price).

To access a paper on a pay per view basis simply search or browse through the online contents lists of the relevant journal and click on the “Add this paper to your cart” button that appears below the online abstract of the paper of your choice.

Access to the full text of IWA Publishing online journals is otherwise restricted to subscribers. This is done by restricting the IP (Internet) addresses that are able to access the full journal. If you already have a subscription to the journal you can use the IP address registration form to register your IP addresses for access.

If you have any subscription queries please contact subscriptions@portland-services.com

If you have a technical problem, please contact support@portlandpress.com.

Can I order offprints of my article?
Authors can purchase offprints of journal articles before the article is published, using an offprint order form that is sent to the corresponding author of each article. Authors who are IWA members are entitled to 25 free offprints, which should also be ordered using the offprint order form. Offprints cannot be provided after an article is published; however, reprints can be ordered (see below).

Can I order reprints of previously published articles?
Reprints of published articles can be ordered from the Editorial Office. Please send an email to
publications@iwap.co.uk specifying the number you require and where they are to be delivered. You will then receive an individual quote.

If you are not the author of the article that you wish to reprint, you must specify what the reprints will be used for and obtain the permission of the author.
